The Gather Sleeve Sweater

The Gather Sleeve Sweater is simple, yet structured with a touch of drama. This seamless sweater features gathered sleeve details, neck shaping, drop shoulders, balloon sleeves and a relaxed fit.

Knit with 4-ply / fingering weight yarn, this garment is worked from the top down, beginning with the back neck ribbing which is picked up to create the back panel. You will then pick up along the shoulders and work the front (together with the neckband) to the underarms. The body is worked flat and the sleeves are worked in the round.

Fit & Yarn Details

I have a 91 cm bust (size M in NZ) wearing size C with about 26 cm ease. Designed to be worn with 15-26 cm / 6-10″ of positive ease, depending on your fit preference. Sizes read as A (B, C, D) (E, F, G).

Finished bust measurements: cm = 95 (106, 117, 124.5) (135.5, 144.5, 153.5) / inches = 37.5 (41.5, 46, 49) (53.25, 57, 60.5)”

Yarn quantity: metres = 1450 (1560, 1700, 1900) (2000, 2150, 2300) / yards = 1550 (1710, 1900, 2050) (2200, 2350, 2500)

Needles: 3.25 mm (US 3) circular needle (or size to obtain gauge) with a suggested 80 cm (40″) long cord AND 2.75 mm (US 2) circular needle with a suggested 80 cm (40″) cord. NOTE: the sleeves and neckline are worked using the magic loop method, but you also opt for a shorter cord or DPNs.

Other Notions: 4 x stitch markers, 2 x removable stitch markers (with a clasp or hook), yarn needle, 3 x 20mm / 0.75″ buttons, cute little scissors and scrap yarn

Gauge: 26 sts x 36 rows = 10 cm x 10cm / 4″x4″ square in stockinette stitch. If you have too many stitches across your 10 cm/4″ space, you need to go up one (or more) needle size. If you have less stitches than needed, you’ll have to go down a needle size.
