As a local yarn store as well as a purveyor of knitting tools, accessories and supplies in store and online we work hard to have you tooled up and ready to meet any crafting challenge.
We have created a series of blog posts which address some of the most commonly asked questions which are known to really twist a yarn retailers stitches and will help empower you to be the sauciest stitcher you can be.
I like this [insert desired product here] but it’s made abroad, can I buy it locally made?
It is wonderful to support locally made product. It helps those industries, farmers and artisans thrive. Sometimes though to keep yarns affordable and accessible, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers must look farther afield. This is perfectly OK too. Remember if you are shopping in a LYS, you are then supporting that local business. The yarn, knitting products or knitting patterns you are purchasing maybe made with components sourced domestically and made elsewhere or vice versa.
Ultimately every purchase in that store helps, regardless of where the product is from.
Due to New Zealand’s size items such as basic notions and accessories are ultimately made overseas. We source from a variety of local distributors and even engage suppliers directly to enable us to bring you the best value, every day.
If you want to see where we have sourced our yarns or fibres from, we have created an Origins page to help make this easier for you. Our goal is to source as much domestically grown as we possibly can. You can view the Origins page HERE
The most important thing is not to get too hung up on where our knitting products are from, by purchasing from us you are supporting the local community where our business is based. For this we are truly thankful.
