Welcome back to our series on enabling you to become a better crafter and answer some of those burning questions you may have with your new hobby.
We have created a series of blog posts which address some of the most commonly asked questions which are known to really twist a yarn retailers stitches and will empower you to become more creative and through caution to the wind and unleash your inner creative deity!
Do you have this specific yarn in that specific colour?
Welcome to the “how long is a piece string” colour edition. As someone who sells knitting supplies online and in store we keep a close eye on colour trends and what shades will be in fashion and in higher demand from one season to the next. With hand knitting the lag can be from 6 – 12 months from what is seen in High Street stores.
Ultimately colour choice is infinite and the average colour selection for a yarn range is about a dozen.
Ranges often reflect a colour story or mood, but popular shades aren’t always able to be replicated or necessarily fit across every yarn variant in every range, so the narrower you are in your colour selection, the less likely it is we are able to match it. Due to these challenges, it pays not to be too rigid in your thinking and use the opportunity to through your creative caution to the wind.
They say necessity is the mother of all invention, so let your creative freak fly and don’t get bogged down into having everything being too exact.
Remember the golden rule, have fun, knitting is a hobby after all!
